Canned Heat. During the time Alan Wilson was alive they were such an utterly fantastic band.. Has anyone here ever seen them in their 'golden era' 1967-1970?

Unfortunatly like many other bands, I've never attended to one of their gigs.

Vinyl albums in my collection:
Boogie With Canned Heat
Living The Blues
Hallelujah
Boogie with Hooker n'Heat (This was the last with Alan Wilson)
Historical Figures and Ancient Heads

Shame you missed 'm, they've played in the Olympia in Paris during their glory years. Did you see a lot of concerts back in the late sixties? Which bands did you manage to catch at those fantastic times? You should check out Canned Heat's album "70 Concert - Recorded Live in Europe". It's superb. I'm actually playing my vinyl copy right now!

And what about that pop festival in France during the summer of '70, the one that got cancelled after a few hours. Where you there? Questions, questions...

Yes, I missed out many concerts and when I think of it today, it make me ashamed

Until the late 60s, I was living in deep French country side where nothing much was happening. It's only when I did break free in 1970 and hitch-hiked to England and to my very first concert at Plumpton National Jazz & Blues Festival http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/plumpton-fest-1970.html , then after to the Isle Of Wight.

It was 3 festivals (Biot, Valbonne and Aix en Provence) that got cancelled in the south of France during summer 1970, it was the same "trouble makers" that disrupted the I.O.W. who got them to be cancelled. I did not go to any of them. But of course, I whent to many other concert then after.

Quintessence are still gigging. They're on the bill at a festival I'm going to in Wales http://www.sonicrocksolstice.com/ Also on are Tir Na Nog, who I haven't seen since 1975 if my memory serves me correctly.
