I did arrive onsite about 2 weeks before the Wednesday 24/08/70. I was so young at the time and it's hard to remember a thing
I did establish home down Desolation Row

Here is a picture of me on the BBC Hampshire web site, sitting down, dressed in black looking at the camera

It was the end of July 1970 when Bertrand, Dan & I, (all of us from Lyon - France) decided that we would go to spend some time to London. We individually (for easy pick-up) thumbed a lift to Calais and the first one there would wait for the others. We got on the ferry to Dover. Luckily, we did meet with some people on the ferry that would take us to London.

Once arrived in London where we stayed for only 4 or 5 days, we got to hear about the Plumpton festival where we went. It’s only at Plumpton that we got to know about a huge bigger than Woodstock festival on the Isle of Wight (Question asked “Where the hell is the IOW?)

Once had a good time at Plumpton we got to hitch-hike to Portsmouth (where I did meet with my first wife) stayed there for 2 or 3 days before we got on the ferry to Ryde, and then on the bus to Freshwater. I remember when we got on site it was an afternoon, where we did establish home down Desolation Row.

Like many others, I did not pay for my ticket, it just happen that I was at the right place at the right time, when some Fiery Creations staff was giving a ticket to anyone who would paint the "wall".
I was given a bucket of white paint, a brush and a ticket 8-)

I travelled down from Leamington Spa on a whim with a friend and a tent on my Honda SS50. We arrived a little before the start of the festival. I was 17 years old with little money and was taking a week off work (though I didn’t tell my boss that and almost got fired on my return). Fortunately I met a couple of friends who had travelled down a few days later. They sold soup and snacks from the back of their van so that kept me from starving. They were situated at the bottom of the hill towards the back of the stage. Remember the guy selling his Hungarian goulash. I can still hear him now. “Goulash! Hungarian Goulash! Goulash! Hungarian Goulash! I recall going into Freshwater from the back of the hill. There was a small toilet wash house which was very busy. I didn’t get a ticket so watch the acts from the hill. I don’t recall too much about the bands though. It was a fabulous experience. I remember the bands through the DVD my daughter bought me hahaha. Those were the days

Do you realise that you've made history, and we're here trying to revive it. I was 17 too, turn on 18 on the 31/08/70.
